I'm 100 Years Too Late

I found this in the Local Paper today.

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? 100 Years Ago

? ? April 28, 1905
? ? ? ? While Plowing a field in Brunswick Township, Alex Bowersox, a farmers helper, overturned
? ? an old stump under which he found an iron box containing Spanish gold coins to the value of
? ? $400. it had probably been buried 75 years.

? ? ? ? ? ? I wonder what that Translates into today?


Or if he Realy Found it in a Barn while doing a Roofing Job

Ok, that made me laugh. It might be intersting to try and locate that field and see what's there today. Ya never know...

Gold is trading today for around $435 an ounce. In 1905 it was probably trading for around $30 an ounce. So gold today is 14.5 times higher than 100 years ago. $400 worth of gold in 1905 would be worth around $5,800 today excluding any numismatic value of the coins.

I'm definately Considering a Microfilm search, To see if there are Better details.

First Problem what was Brunswick Twp. in 1905 is now East & West Brunswick twp's,


second, there are/were alot of Farms in that area, for the last 250 years

Seriously, you need to find this spot. The people who buried that may have dropped things in the area, may have left other stashes, or it could just be a good site for other stuff.
