well the trip was great though i didnt do much detecting but i did get a silver penny.. has anyone hear of this its a 1943 silver penny not steel its so light... I also was in south carolina and wound up in cowpens battle field that was a great sight though ruined by a highway and then put back in the 1970s... LOL i did ask them to let me hunt they told me only if i wanted to spend a few days in jail im more than welcome... Im going back in 2 months after my florida trip.. but at least this time in N. carolina i did do some scouting and got a few tips, People down there are so laid back and are intrested to see whats on there property the weird thing was there dirt was red i never seen red dirt before and in some areas it was harder than our dirt but my signals were a bit stronger than here on targets.. Ill get a pic of the silver penny on here tomorrow i want to see if its worth anything

Hello, Mike,

I'm glad you made it back safe and sound. There were a lot of those light colored pennies made during the war and
because of the war. I think 1943 was the only year they were made. It had something to do with metals needed for
war materials

have a good day.

Be carefull with that penny.Years ago some people would coat pennies in mercury for fun. This was obviously before they realized playing with mercury may not be a good idea.To my knowlege, there were never any silver pennies minted.

My sister lives in Southern Virginia. Thats all they have is red dirt down there. I managed a Colonial Copper down there a few years back. Can distinguish which one, but under the light you can see the outline of a mans head, the back has a poor outline of a women holding a shield. This coin is like paper thin though. Most worn coin i've seen in my life. But hey...it was still real cool.
