Almost need to repost w/ a title "1652 oak tree shilling". Won't make banner since your friend isnt registered but informed users that can identify it will actually see it. I hate to watch while it falls off the page.

that is a once in a lifetime find - he nicked it? OMG I cannot imagine nicking a potentially $50,000 - $75,000 coin or whatever its value might be !!!

I don't know if I would be crying from the joy of finding it, or the sadness of me scratching it. Truly a state of mixed emotion there.

He dropped it off at a jewelry store yesterday lol... I told him get it back ASAP but they're closed today. I'll get better pics when he gets it back... It looks like a 1652 Oak to me and yeah he definitely scratched it. The spot he hunting must be hot he pulled a Reale today.

I believe it's a Noe 12 or 12.5 Oak Tree Shilling. Don't think about the scratch. Think only good thoughts. It's a awesome find! :icon_thumright:

It is a really nice example because it is centered on the planchet. Highest price ever at auction was $161,000 for a oak tree.Too bad about the scratch. I always use a fiber glass reinforced plastic trowel for the final removal.

Dig wide-dig deep if out in the fields/pasture/bush one never knows what lurks under the soils. Great recovery on the Reale as well, your buddy has a great site.
