Also found a knife with a home made antler handle, and 5 paper shotshell heads by USC, UMC and Winchester
Not bad for about an hour in the woods.
Thanks for looking! Screenshot_20181025-194127.jpeg 20181025_202658.jpeg

What is verbage on the back ? That is very important in pinning down who manufactured this, and helping you get a sense of what this may be worth . The fact that you haven't located this already on the net is the good news ! There may not be too many out there . Nixon resigned in 1974 - a good while ago now - Collectors of presidential memorabilia would be all over this piece !

The handle on your knife is actually not homemade; I have one just like it. Have one just like it that i have had for 30 years and it was old when i acquired it. Think they were german made if i remember correctly.

Agree. That's a Solingen made knife if I've ever seen one. Gary

I like that Nixon pendant. I would think that's a highly collectible piece of political memorabilia.

Really nice finds! Congrats!

Solingen definitely!

And Mr. Nixon, Someone must have regretted the loss of this baby! It was a really bizarre period in history. Half the country was turned on, 25% were trying to stop them and the other 25% didn't care! I had this knockout girlfriend who worked in the Nixon campaign in 68. She was a real hoot and always playing tricks on folks especially boys. She told me one day that she'd seen the new Nixon campaign buttons and that one style had the motto "They Can't Lick Our Dick" on it. Of course she didn't have one, so I just figured it was just one more joke. Years later I started collecting political buttons and one day at the flea market found this.

Nizon Button copy.jpg

I was astonished! I later found out that the Dems had a button in 72 that said "Lick Dick In 72". Crazy times like waking up every day in Alice's wonderland. Thanks Maggie wherever you are!

Best wishes and good luck!--------Phil

Hahaha, after I read this I looked at it again, the handle had been spun almost 90 degrees and that's why it was not lined up and felt awkward in my hand which made me think handmade handle.
I spun it back, it was still pretty hard to turn though and now it lines up and feels more like it should haha.
Thanks! 20181026_075940.jpeg 20181026_075945.jpeg

This spot isn't the easiest to hunt. It was an old winery in the early 1900s, then abandoned and was a party hang out up through the 70s. I've found stuff as old as 1870s there, but tons of peel tops and peel top cans. My bag if full of garbage every time I go. Been making piles of cans so I can just go through with a big garbage bag and get them out
Well, that might explain why he found it in the woods.
