I had just a couple hours to detect and I went to an old house that my pastor lived in when I was a kid. His kids and I were like family so with one phone call I was out there swinging. I found lots of aluminum cans, metal from siding and just junk. I got discouraged and was about to leave when I went back to the from yard and tried further away from the house. I got a good signal and dug a wheat. Then dug another one and another and another from various locations as I gridded the yard. I have an AT Pro and was getting a solid 79-82 on the wheats consistently. Most were 4". Then I got a solid 75 at 2" and almost didn't dig but could tell it was a coin. I bypassed the little shovel I use when I think its a "good" target and used my hand tool and just flipped it out. I was stunned to see a 1908 Indian. I double checked the reading and it was a solid 75. So now I have learned a valuable lesson. I looked at what I was discriminating out and added back my "nickel" targets (50-54 notch). I took a couple swings and had a solid 53. Thinking I could have an old nickel I flipped out this pin. It's 10k with pearls. It's a ladies music sorority pin. I am going back tomorrow. I have passed up this house many times due to the trash in the yard. I won't pass it up ever again!

The reason I was discriminating is cause I was looking for silver and only had two hours and lots of ground to cover. I typically do not do that. Just saying.

Very nice finds.

I had an instance once where I was hunting an area and I got a signal that I didn't recognize so I passed it up. I got the exact same reading on my meter about 30 feet away and decided to dig and it was an indian. I went back to the first signal and it was also another indian. So it pays to check the targets especially if you get two that I don't recognize within close proximity to each other.
