I posted it in the what is it section , and just realized there is section for indian artifacts "cool" . I was working in a feild digging post holes for a fence in Prince William County,VA which is famous for quartz and slate and lots of red clay .I found this stone about 2 inches in the soil ,at first glance I new this stone is not native to this area and when I picked it up I realized it has a hole drilled in it ,it is smooth on all sides and appears to have a place where an attempt was made to drill two other holes , on the top it appears to have been chipped and has what appears to be tally marks . Can anyone tell me if this is a indian artifact and if so what was it used for .The owner of the property has found a few points years back in the garden .Thanks for any help and info ...

Looks like a nutting stone , a small one but definetly could be. Let the experts chime in.
