I couldnt find the exact button when I googled it, but it appears to be from the NY National Guard during the Indian wars era. All these items were at one of my usuall hunting spots. an 18k gold ring, a 47 rosie, the 2 buttons, and a 41 wheat. The last time i hit this spot I found a 1909 wheat in very good shape. Any help on ID`ing this gold button would be great, one of these days ill have some pics of this one room school house-now community center.
enjoy,

In Alberts button book, on page 205, NY54, New York 23rd Regiment. I could not find the date of these buttons but they were grouped under Regimental Buttons. That would indicate they should be pre civilwar, but there are some real button experts on here so maybe they will chime in.

I found a civil war button made in waterbury con. I just typed it in to yahoo search and found it. It's my understanding that the waterbury button company was in business for a long time and used many names under the waterbury co. Just checked under waterburys home page but could not find it. Looks to be old though. If it says waterbury button co. it is authentic. If it says waterbury button co's. Its a reproduction. Yours is the real deal. Just don't know the age. Ask PBK, the moderator. He is pretty good at old buttons, I believe

yeah this is a hard item to find any info on, my best guess on a date would be early to mid 1800s,
