Anyone here ever hunt down around Indianola? The place is full of history. Gave me an itch I thought I would never have to scratch...a water detector.

Been there about four times swinging away and have come up with clad and about eight 50 cal. cartridges. I have seen some old coins found by friends I know but they have all been found at the water edge and deeper on days I didn't go. Three of us crossed over the Powderhorn canal with Kayaks and they found a few mini balls. Don't plan on going back to far from San Antonio.

Cool. I am going to try some wading next summer...unless the trout are biting...

Saw that pic on google earth too! Lots of history from the civil war there. There were several Confederate forts there, and across the bay on Matagorda. It's on my list of places to hunt when I become more proficient. The shipwreck of LaSalles vessel The Belle was recently excavated near there. Seems when she ran aground, some of the crew drowned while rafting to Matagorda island, maybe they left some goodies...

...I think that most of the good areas are submerged .....sounds like a good place to take a waterproof detector.........Joe
