I wanted to see if my Black Widow Headphones would improve my odds of Finally finding Real Gold with my Explorer.
and also wanted to see what his CTX could do here.

Did the pool still have the sand traps. I worked as a life guard during my time at the university and we would have to run a rake down those massive sand traps daily. It was not odd to pull up a chain of some sort. I always wanted to MD one.

Envious of that ring! My first dig was also a ring but as clean as it was, no markings. Got an Elk Hotel 5cent trade token and some clad. Good day out.

OK, well when these old outdoor pools where built they had these giant sand boxes. A pool that size would have had 2 joining boxes at least 4 foot wide, 7 foot long each and about 5 feet deep.

When the cities destroy these pools, environmentally it is safe enough to leave those sand boxes behind. Sometimes the worker just break off the cement curbs around the boxes just under ground level, leaving the sand traps. I have never heard of a city investing the man hours and money it takes to dig up the sand box all the way.

Just food for thought; if you ever go back you may want to just keep your eyes out. The box would either be located directly behind the pool or it was in a structure.

Just saying because I always wanted to hunt one my self after seeing the stuff we pulled out with just a rake. The way I figured it, that it would be one of those digs done layer after layer since the good stuff sinks, leaving the best for last.

Congrats on the first gold! Hunting for them certainly causes a LOT of work though, don't it. :)

Looks like an interesting place.

Yes it's actually another Large Park.

I think the Football field is the Schools .
there was a Ball field just north of the pool grounds in 1959
before the pool was built

strange thing, considering it is a large town,
there doesn't seem to be any real histrory
other then it's connection to coal.

and being it's distance from me, it is hard to get up there much.
every time I went up though I said there must be gold there.
But I just couldn't find any.
My Troy Phones just make a Thump sound in the gold/foil range on my Explorer.
my Sovereign used to thump when it was auto tuning. So my mind
would ignore the thump if I wasn't paying extra close attention.
the Black Widows are making a Nice Low tone I can't miss
