iron relics from old granite quarry

These finds are from one evening last week. The town where my office is used to have a thriving granite industry (12 quarries operating ca. 1910). My office is about 30-35 from the edge of a defunct quarry (first picture is taken from my office window on a different day, trying to get a shot of the groundhog- the young trees are on the edge of the cliff). I found these things in the woods to the right of the pictured area.

No, don't know where the shed was, but the "front" of the quarry is on the other side, next to another office building. I found a ref for a map of the town quarries, but haven't been able to get it off the database - that reminds me to look again.

Great relics. I certainly hope your digging tool doesn't hit the granite too much.

Really nice looking groundhog,I used to have one that lived behind me a lot of years ago,nice to see one. Is that his hole that you can see?
