Is it Gold???

Are all things made of gold stamped with karot weight? I dug a cross today that appears to me gold..is heavy but is NOT marked in any way. It is made from round stock and perhaps it is hard to stamp something round??

check the back of the bezel ,sometimes they will have a stamp there.sometimes no stamp at all.

A lot of,maybe even the majority of religous items are not stamped with regard to gold or silver content. If its been in the ground for quite sometime and still looks shiney new its a good bet its gold.
