I'm looking for cape may, nj ship wrecks. I had a book with a lot of them but, it is lost to me and I'm looking to see if anyone has a list or a wreck that I can research in my area.
Google the NJ Maritime Museum in Beach Haven, NJ. The have a searchable database that is an awesome research tool. Is there a specific wreck you are looking for?
There are a lot of wrecks off the Jersey, NY, DE and MD coasts. Spanish coins still turn up. Remember, when the Spanish galleons took out of Cuba, they sailed NORTH along the East Coast almost up to New England before they caught the winds and tore off across the Atlantic. As I tell people, the stuff is everywhere and it is nowhere. You have to put in a lot of time. We are now in the best time of year for ocean beach searches. Just need some really bad offshore weather. Right now the sand is being removed, by the time it gets warm, it's all over until late next fall. Summer detecting for old stuff, let alone the newer stuff is for the birds. I'm going tomorrow as a matter of fact to the ocean.
