My friend recently bought this 1864 2 center and it looks to be an error. Is it?

He's clearly talking about the crack that runs through AMERICA but could you take a better photo of the entire reverse?

Yes I'm talking about the crack. I'll be able to get it in the next week. Ill post pics when I receive it!

It appears to be an inside the rim Die Break cud! The Die apparently shattered with the portion that forms the denticles and rim still intact when the coin was struck (minted), otherwise it would have formed a rim cud. Since the Die was failing, I would imagine that the subject coin was the last coin or it was very close to being the last coin struck with the Die!
