The hole doesn't appear to be drilled in the fashion usually seen. It should have been drilled from both directions, and from the pictures it doesn't appear to be that way.

Used, maybe, man made, probably not.

that hole sure looks nice and round
but the back side says different........i agree with quito but thanks for asking for the opinion and for the post friend

This is obviously a piece of sedimentary stone that formed around a Cambrian Era shell of a shell fish such as an Olivella (sea snail). I live in Northern California and have found many, many of these on the beach at Bolinas in nearby Marin County which has sandstone Cambrian cliffs that wash out with the rains into the small bay and then roll around in the sand in the surf until the small shells within them fall out and all that is left is the hole where it once was. I actually have stones with the shells still in them in my collection.
