Nope, but i'd offer him $300 for it, thats about how many pennies it looks like it could hold. And If you pay too much, i'm sure you can find a few keepers in there.

Too many shiny coins for this to be done over 40 yrs in my opinion. :dontknow: :icon_scratch:

Now if that was a jar of dimes or quarters. :tongue3:

It could indeed have been started 40 years ago. It doesn't say it was filled 40 years ago and sat full since then. I would expect the top part of the jar to contain newer cents if the person was still filling it up until recently. That being said, I would have no problem offering $400.

He states that the "jug is worth $200 from what he can find out". Personally I don't think he did any research and just came up with that figure out of the air and he is just hoping to find someone who will take his word for it. If it was worth $200 he would not be putting all that change in it with the risk of busting it open.

The jug is a 5 gallon carboy that is often used in brewing beer or wine making. They run around 30 bucks.

Correct. I would just empty the contents and send the jug to auction. It would probably realize 30 - 40 dollars.

Yeah right? I have a few myself. I see them at garage sales too, usually around $5-$10 tops.

You need to go to a better auction house.
