It ain't much, but I'll take it...

Haven't been doing a whole lot of detecting lately but I decided to step out yesterday to get in an hour's hunt and was rewarded with another silver dime. Unfortunately it wasn't a Barber like the last time but I'll take a Rosie any day over the skunk.

According a 1950 map I looked at, the place I detected has been a school grounds for quite some time. I've been here before about half a dozen times and all I ever found was an old token dented by a .22 slug. That alone told me this spot had potential but the only silver I've pulled out of here was a ring, until Saturday when I got the Rosie.

Edit: I made a video from my cell phone of the dig as soon as I saw the coin in the plug. It's not the greatest quality and you'll have to suffer with seeing an AVS logo for the first 60 seconds (can't wait till I purchase a GoPro):

HH,

Ray

You can detect Ft. Lewis? That would have been good for me to know a couple years ago.

As for Indians and buffs, I've found quite a few while up in Washington but you will want to do better than that, even better than a V nickel. I don't know if you remember my posting this or not when I lived up there, but I set out to Oakville on Hwy 12 west of the I-5 and found me a Shield nickel in a scraped city lot next to a tiny park. The nickel was in bad shape, but it was the best nickel I've ever found because it is the oldest type.

Hit those old vacant house lots, Granges, Mason's lots, et al. Washington is full of undetected spots. One of my best tools was the Lewis County Assessor Parcel Maps to find property owners for specific properties that I wanted to hunt. Sometimes you strike out but then there are the other times... :laughing7:
