:hello2: I got me 2 new fields to hunt. I have been waiting for the owners to be home for a while now and today was the day. While in the creek I pick up beaver sticks and then my friend works them to walking sticks and puts a polish and stain on them. I gave 2 of them to a owner today and now I can add 2 more fields to my hunts. This is what I found today just before the rain came. Most are broken but as you can see it is going to be a good field. Looks to be Early Archaic so no pottery. I think the base is a Dalton Greenbriar.

Looks like some good stuff. Maybe one day I'll buy a raincoat and try hunting even when it's raining. A few of my buddies do that here and they always come up with good stuff.

My batteries are almost gone so the pics arent the best. You can flip the batteries and they will get a couple more pics. But the white one is quartz scraper I have it turned the wrong way. The black ones are scrapers so not all was broken. 1 flake tool which I like but couldnt get a close up.

Actually 1 of the (scrapers) might have a flute attempt on the other side.

...exciting rock...looks & sounds like a great hunting place! And the "trade" was a good one...Beaver sticks, guess from "Dams"? Not familiar with them...have you posted the finished sticks before? They sound nice. :)

I'm glad you have a new site to look. It looks promising. Good luck in future hunts.

I have 1 time posted on the sticks. Cant tell you where the pic is now though. The beavers will chew the bark off of small sticks and this will scare them well this happens most of the time in the water. When they are done the sticks will sink and become water logged and stay on the bottom. They become stained and preserved in the creek. They then will wash up every once in a while. Most of the time they are too short to use but every once in a while they will be 4-6 feet long and slender. That is the size you want cause you have the snip the ends. I picked 1 up the other day for him to finish for me. He is retired and is always looking for something to do so he can stay busy.

Good ya got a new spot. Good trade. There's always a shortage of spots to hunt artifacts now days but don't think their will be a shortage of beavers anytime soon.

I gave him another one today. Its a bit big and thick but it would work for a nice hiking stick for me.
