We all know that some detectors can be swing very fast and some must be swung slower. I swing "slow medium" and overlap by an inch or two. I know guys who crawl along real slow and overlaps almost all the coil again and others who look like they are whacking weeds with a scythe, fast and no real overlapping at all. Keep It Clean!

So describe your swing style or method!

IMO, it depends of the type of terrain. If hunting a razed lot, the dozer tends to jumble everything together and you have to go really slow and overlap quite a bit to get between the junk. However, on a plowed field that used to have a site on it, I'd go quite a bit faster and not really overlap until I started running into bldg. materials like square nails and such.

Do-Wop, Do-Wop, Do-Wop, Do-Wop, Dooo-Wop !

Sorry, Couldn't Resist ;D

With mine the Slower I swing the deeper it goes.

Once I cleaned an area out, I barely move my coil
back & Forth in 1" to 2" wide Swings.

Could not agree with you more Jeff, slow and then go slower.
I know that is one reason I continue to find some real good stuff, cherry picking and hunting at a fast speed has its place but to really find what has been lost, slow is the way to go :)

I don't really swing so much as push and pull. I hunt right handed and push the coil to the left and pull the coil to the right. That way I can keep the coil flat to the ground and hunt in a straight line as apposed to an arc pattern. I cover about 5 feet per pass at about 1.5 feet per second. This method creates less drag on the arm when in taller grass. BUT like it was said in another post, it will depend on the area you are hunting. Sweep speed means alot in target I.D. If you sweep to fast you get poor ground coverage and your target I.D. could be effected. If you have a tonal I.D. machine with a digital readout, try hunting slow till you get a signal (non iron) recheck the signal at a faster sweep speed and see if your tone changes or the numbers on your readout. Depending on the brand of machine you use there could be a difference and this difference could cause you to miss some good targets.

Slow and overlap with the EX2-medium fast and overlap with the F-75 (I overlap 1/2 the coil)
