We have a winner! I was looking for a Vaquero but could only find a Tejon so got it. They go really deep and I used to have one before. Light weight, ergonomically balanced. It's a long way from Wisconsin to Pennsylvania. Up for a trip?
How about the White's TDI? It's a specialty unit, a pulse-induction machine that will sound off on those deep targets. And it's lightweight (which I think you prefer, Smokey).

Ha! Why do I win a contest when I can’t get the prize?? I had a sneaky feeling when you said “punches deep in moderate ground”...or something like that. Did you buy Craig’s? I’m afraid you’ll have to do a “guess a number from 1-100” contest for my spot, which I willingly relinquish to the next lucky winner! I COULD make it....but I wouldn’t have a job when I got back...
My friend Brad has a Vaquero with the 9” coil and he said it can be STUPID deep in the woods. He’s got an etrac and an 800 also, so I’m taking that to mean something...
We have snow and probably will for another couple months so I can only detect vicariously until then. My Xterra is 13 years old and my Tiger shark a year older with showing their age so I am thinking about a new detector as well. Probably an Equinox but still somewhat undecided.
Now THAT would be AWESOME! A couple true CW era bullets would make my day! Round balls? Cannon frag? Let me know what you come up with Smokey, that’s a really generous offer which I appreciate!
I think that's the model I used way back when. I tore it up at Antietam before the park bought the farm! That was about 1980. Something like that. it was really odd going up to that little white farm house next to the monuments and asking and getting permission. Not anymore.
