Let me start by telling you Tnet friends, that this was the craziest hunt I've ever had.
An empty lot next to a 1925 house loaded with trash, and trees....roots everywhere.

I didn't expect to find...MY OLDEST COIN EVER!!!:occasion14:
As best as I can tell, it's an 1869 Egyptian, Ottoman Empire, 10 Para coin.

So, onto the relics...not much, but the best were the Junior Police badge, and a service medal from Detroit...Bureau of Public Safety... awarded for a "Meritorious Safety Act" presented by the police department....FANTASTIC!!!

Oh yea, the gen pin thingy....it's a souvenir from the Omaha, Nebraska stockyard....O.K. .....?

So, onto my coins.... never have I had a hunt, where I didn't find a nickel, dime, or quarter.
Only 4 clad cents....the rest, all wheats!....:headbang:
But wait, there's more.....
Half of them were clipped, edged off, or grinded down....to these cute little mini wheats.
All but a few have a date, nothing key...but one of the clipped ones has a date of 191?....bummer. Also, a 1920 flattened by a train.

While I'm at it, here's a pic of trash, cuz some of you guys are into that.:tongue3:

I didn't do their backyard, or front...as the permission was for the side lot they owned, but since they weren't home, I held off until I get the ok for that another time.

Thanks for looking!:hello:

What a bunch of minnies. Cool hunt regardless. A definite honey hole and I would get that permission for the rest of the property. Congrats!

That's the plan, can't go till Nov or so....

Nice hunt. The Egyptian coin is a 20 Para, Accession date AH1277, the mint year is hard to see but is probably a 10 (from what I can tell), putting this at 1870. Interesting find.

Ottoman Empire coins are not in my wheelhouse..... so it's been cool to learn about this one I found.
Still, the oldest coin I've ever found, which is very very exciting.

That's not the house by your work is it? The one being remodeled with the empty lot

Looks like you did a fine job!

Now, after you've weeded out a few more loads of trash, give me a call. ;)

Congrats on your oldest. Just never know, do we. :)

Awesome site Dave, :headbang: Congrats on digging your oldest. :occasion14: Man you dug your share of targets today. I notice you consider clock innards as trash, I keep them. I hope you have a 5 gallon bucket in the garage to keep all your copper. I only keep copper, brass, and lead all other trash is tossed.

Regrettably no, I've tossed so much scrap brass and copper, it makes me sick to think about it...I need to tighten up.

No, I've been keeping an eye on that place, haven't seen anyone there since we asked the worker dudes...
this place is actually a customer of my company, I was filling in for another guy last week, and they were home. The permission was easy as I bribed her with a case of water.:laughing7: Not too far from my house, across McGregor Blvd, next street over from my banner dollars....

Awesome. Man I would have loved to seen what could have been pulled out of that yard they were remodeling

I'll be sure to show you!:laughing7:

Haha. I'm sure there is good stuff there. I've been trying to find some old places around here but since deer season has started it's gonna be a bit unless I hit the city

AWD IS THAT A PILL BOX IN THE LAST PIC , NICE FINDS .

If it's the round thing on the right, it's a common compact. Little girls in the 1950's disposed of them in the lawn, to the chagrin of future detectorists...
If it's the round junk on the left, that's an old combo lock that's trashed.

Wow Dave amazing finds I wish I had a hunt like that great display case stuff that medal is sweet!!I seem to find lots of wheats and very little silver I think people here in Michigan were to cheap not to pick up there dropped silver plus there was a craze here of people having to rip off there pop tops..Thanks for always sharing your cool finds I count on people like you in the winter its not the same as detecting but it gets me by Cant wait to see the back yard finds Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
