Jambone's CRH Log

I recently celebrated my 44th birthday. For a present, my wife and 13yo son ordered me a box of halves. When I got home from work today, it was sitting on the kitchen counter. The first roll I opened had 1 40% in it, and the silver just kept coming. The 3 of us had a great time opening rolls and piling up the keepers - 46 40%ers total. I gotta go get another box asap!

My wife never knows what to get me. A loaded box of halves would do nicely. Happy birthday!

Found another 40%er while re-rolling. My son or my wife must have missed it earlier. Total = 47 40%. It has to be beginner's luck right? It can't be this easy!?

Man, that was 1 nice box there! Happy B day to you, nice present! HH, Maverick.

Dropped off $476.50 of re-rolled halves at a different branch today. Normally, they wouldn't accept CWRs in an amount over $50, but they made an exception for me this one time. Went back to the first branch and ordered another box. I guess I can find another bank to dump at - found one that will send them off to be counted.

FWIW, the tellers at both branches (and another bank I checked out) all know about CRHing and didn't seem put off by it. One of the tellers admitted to doing it himself occasionally. As has been suggested, I think I'll start taking baked goods to the tellers that order the boxes for me.

Picked up our 2nd box today. We didn't have quite the haul we did last week, but it was still a good box: 15 40%ers. We had 2 enders - our first time for that. I took the tellers some treats when I picked it up - they really enjoyed them and I am now their "favorite customer". Made it a lot easier to order a box for next week!

FWIW, this box was long and flat - 10 rolls x 5 rolls. Our first box was more of a cube - 2 layers of 5 rolls x 5 rolls. The first box was all MWRs with white wrappers with olive green ink (as I recall, maybe it was black). This box is all MWRs with white wrappers with black ink. Other than the possible ink difference, the MWRs appear identical.

Yeah, I was wrong about the wrappers being almost identical. Here's a pic I found that was like my first box:

And here's my second box:

I believe the first box came from Brinks and the 2nd box came from a local/regional courier.

So, beginner's luck lasts exactly 2 boxes. Got another box of halves today and it was a total skunk. It was a cube box with the white/black MWRs. Looked like somebody had been through them already and reused the wrappers.

Oh well, it's hard to complain about this box after the first two.

Thats really good beginners luck because i thought it was a 90% and 3 40% in $400 in halves. That seems more dreamlike to me

Not much of a comeback from last week's skunk, but we got 2 40% (both 1967) out of a box yesterday.

1 Box: 2 40%

I could live with 2 keepers per box. I know I'm new to this, but I'm really looking forward to finding my first Ben or Walker.

Happy Hunting!

Another skunk - cube box with white/black MWRs that had been reused. Lots of markings too: 301, 801, 901, 1101.

Better luck this week with a box of halves...

1 1967 40%
2 1968 40%
1 1986-S (proof) Liberty commemorative

And then I'm not sure if these are NIFCs or what...

1 1989-D
3 1991-D

I guess the picture from my scanner doesn't show how clean and shiny they are. I think they'll be released back into the wild anyway. I'll keep the 40s and the commemorative.
