My 10-year old brother and I went to two spots today, the (overgrown) ruined foundations of two Civil War-era textile mills it's said were Union uniform factories. The first mill was so overgrown and wrecked we could barely maneuver, so we abandoned it for the second, which turned out to be on similar condition.
The second mill site also happens to be a dog park and a popular fishing hole, and I never knew this but there is an old foundation next to the road whose cornerstone dates 1888. Hunting this foundation got us this old power junction box (?)

and about 15 cents. Crossing the creek we saw this old mill wheel
sticking out of the old foundation wall. We grew tired of foliage and mosquitos so we crossed back and went to the open field next to the dog park, where we found a 1973 quarter and this old butter knife:
Not a horrible day, wish it could have yielded more, but I plan on canvassing that field again soon.
