Just another brick in the walk

I'm putting in a brick walkway, using old bricks that were laying about our property when we bought it five years ago. This morning I went out to work on it some more and noticed that one brick had numbers scribed into it. Has anyone seen this before? The script is definitely old fashioned.

Beautiful job of laying those bricks. My Dad did that for a living in the early 1900,on streets. He is since passed away,but bet he would have know the answer to your question

The numbers on the back are for the placement of the brick. I work in a brick plant and the shape bricks for the arches and round patios (old round kilns or brick ovens) are numbered. the ends of the brick are made at an angle and these numbers tell which row and how far in.
Yours might be 3rd row 2nd brick.

No sand bed; I've done okay here with other brick walks set into the soil. We'll see how this goes.
