Tried out a new park today. Nothing much special about it, just wanted to try something new. It seems to have worked. :)

A little, 3 hour hunt to feel out the park. Stayed on the high side of VDI to cover more ground.

The rains have been heavy lately and the tot lots and even the volleyball court was pretty messy. Sand, but didn't feel like fighting the muck this time. The volleyball court was sand and had a wood frame built around it to contain. Soooooo, since I didn't feel like playing in the mud, I thought "outside the box". Figuring the way people play and lay around the outer edges, seemed a good idea.

The first part of the trifecta was a ring that seemed pretty obvious it was made of aluminum. So, I didn't catch a pic of it being revealed.

Pretty enough and it ALWAYS makes me happy when a ring comes out. :)

The next one, surprised me a bit as it was just on the border of a penny hit.
Figuring a penny, pull tab here's what I saw in the hole:

Those little yellow stones go all the way around.
Pretty awesome.

IMGA3601.JPG

No markings though and the inside of the ring has some strange striations. :dontknow:

Then, after turning the third corner of the box, this:

SILVERYGLINT1.jpg

JACKPOT.jpg

One of the best I've ever found.

IMGA3600.JPG
IMGA3602.JPG
IMGA3603.JPG

The camera doesn't show the color properly, but the center stone is a beautiful, light purple!

All in all, a pretty nice first visit I'd hazard to say. ;)

Since I had already been bulldozed over today by the finds, when my ride showed up
it seemed fitting. :)

A ring tri-fecta. Love it!

Thanks for peeking!

Yeah, all in all, a pretty fine day. Makes those lesser ones seem worth it all. ;)

I like the "car" too, don't think I've ever seen a steam roller toy! :)

Thanks!

Well, of course that's always a good idea, ain't it. We sometimes forget and get into an auto-pilot mode out there. Sort of just listening for that sweet high tone.

In a way, that really is a good thing. After all, it is supposed to be our hobby and not our "job". (Unless, of course, one is trying to put food on the table like I started doing many years ago, when I was trying to feed a large family. Which ultimately led me to quitting this "hobby" for quite a few years.)

We ARE supposed to come back after a hunt with a "good" tired. Not just worn out.

Anyway, as usual, I digress. :) One needs to be thinking out there. Trying to envision just how people may have used an area we are searching. It does help to be where people may have lost something. ;)

Thanks!
HH!

That steamroller will come in handy for putting the finishing touches on re-filled holes. Nice going, Whadifind!

Nice collection of rings. I'd rather find a junk ring than a penny!

I understand but, ya know, I'd prefer to find a penny, if it's old enough. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE finding the bling and all the potential for a large return on investment! But, when I find a really nice, old, coin, I smile a whole lot broader than a ring. If it's silver, so much the more.

Most of the time the coin will not be worth very much. Still, I just love finding old coins! :)

Thanks!

Yeah, every now and then, I just go to a brand new park, field, school, something simply for the adventure of hunting somewhere I've never been before. When we keep going back to the same place time after time, even if it produces fairly well, we tend to get a little lazy. Start skipping those "pull-tabs". ;)

Need to keep it fresh and NEVER go because you feel you "HAVE" to go. Always better to really want to go and are looking forward to the trip.

HH!
