I've always LOVED treasure hunting and have just decided to get a detector, but am unsure what kind to get starting out. I'm not sure what kind of metal detector I need. I'd like one that I can use on land and water but also do not want to spend a lot of money starting out. Any suggestions for this newbie????

I appreciate your advice and knowledge,

Lori

Hi Lori,

Always best if you have some local guidance.
Not a clue where you are, but you might search for a club in your area.

Personally, I like Tesoro machines.
They are a great value, and frequently exceed performance of much more expensive brands.
And, they have a LIFETIME warranty ! All mine are now over 10yrs old...

Most recently Garrett has come out with the Ace 250.
The Little Yeller Feller has set the MD world on fire!
IMO it is best for the lowest dollar.

I hope you know it is significantly more expensive to ask that a md be suitable for both land, and underwater. Tesoro Tiger Shark is the best way to get that multi-use capability.
You may wade in shallow water with most coils, but the fun's all over if the control box gets dunked.

Very helpful members here on the Tnet! If you post a little more information about where you are and what you hope to find, we will all be able to offer our best opinions for your choice.
