Had a fine hunt today with Vino. Nice weather and good company made finding cool old stuff irrelevant. Well almost...

During a productive morning, which Vino will fill you in about his half, I was able to squeeze out a 1771 KG3 at about 5" and a nice treble gelt flat button with the shank still attached. After some fine diner food we were off to the grounds again, joking that we each needed another copper before quitting time. Low and behold I had an iffy signal at 9". I dug about 7", rescanned, and hit a solid 11-41. Bingo. Out popped a 1775 KG3 at about 9". Vino and I both thought it was a half cent but oh well, next time!

Good times today

I did find a KG3 copper 1/2 penny today (my oldest coin to date). Posted it under today's finds as well. Congrats on yours!

I'll get the seal posted after I get Home from the ocean. Rough and windy today offshore!

We didn't go far offshore but it was blowing 50kts. Since the heat wave the water temp has jumped from 31 to 37 so I say let it blow and let it be warm;) will it be calm for your weekend trip?

Sounds like you guys had a great day of digging and dining, and then more digging for dessert. Nice going on the coppers!

thanks Bill. You don't look to be doing too bad yourself. I love the progress on that saber guard - it's looking sharp!

It appears one or both of your finds could be Machin's Mills pieces. They are both known Machin's dates and the one piece where the reverse shield is a bit clearer seems to show solid lines in the shield unlike the Union Jack shown on regal halfpence. Way to go. Better reverse photos would help identify.
