Firstly we have a picture of 23 Roman coins from yesterday in 2.5 hrs from the Roman Lion's Neighbour. Site Completed.

Today we did 1.5 hrs covering just less than an acre at the Copse Field (Game Strip) - 6 Scrappies

Then we went to the other neighbour of the Roman Lion's Field because it been on my mind to try it again. We had 2 strike outs in previous scouting missions with no good signs. However, the lay-of-the-land just looked right to me, so we returned. Found the most Sestertius in 1 day, so this is now called 'Sestertius Hill'. Got 17 Roman Bronze Coins in 3 hours.

My 2nd ever Deer Antler - must be my year!
1933 Sixpence
Medieval Buckle
Tudor Button
3 Roman Silver - 2 Plated, 1 broken:tongue3:
My biggest Roman Disc Brooch! Dug at 20 inches.
Copper core of a Celtic Qrter Stater
On the last run of the day a 9cwt Bracelet. I guessed to Dad it was 15g, I was wrong it was 14.77g, my biggest ever Gold find at about Β£170 scrap!

That's quite a day - congrats on the coins, gold and antler! Your intuition paid off yet again, something that all good relic hunters possess.

It's kind of an invisible Site. Nothing on the aerial, nothing in the research, hardly any Lead or Nails, only saw 2 bits of Pot Shards. It was purely on how it looked.

Well done Cru :occasion14: On average, that's a Roman bronze coin every 10 min for 3 hours... I bet that was a load of fun digging. Always enjoy your posts man. Great job once again.

Wow ! What a Monster day you had Cru !!! Is that larger bronze a Faustina ? and lower in that same pic. Is there a Antoninus Pius bronze as well ? The heavy gold is not exactly chopped liver either, unbelievable day out !!!!

Forgive me if I publicly drool all over your wonderful recoveries. USA history is pretty cool but, rusty iron just don't compare to what you are turning up mate. What an adrenaline filled day that must have been. I'd have been acting like a drunken fool toting around all that REAL TREASURE ! Amazing.

That was a fantastic day! Seems the Sestercia of Faustina had a better than average alloy. Many of them are in good condition compared to others. One of my fave Roman coins. Congrats on the brooch! How does the obverse look? Anything decorated or plain?

We were acting like that, the plan was only to spend 1 hour scouting, we spent 3 hours instead. Very exciting.

Its plain because it was a two-piece Brooch & the whole of the decorated front is missing.
