Found this about 20 minutes ago in my box of nickels and I'm freakin out! Very exciting but have a question, how can I clean this? Should I try?

Drop it in some clorox and leave it overnight. JUST KIDDING! DON'T!!

As someone who doesn't usually care about nickels, nice find, very nice find.

Didn't one of those sell for 3 million recently? It doesn't look like your coin is worth that much but who knows? Nice find.

I think that was a 1913 V nickel or something. Not sure though.

Nice find but it is a common date 1887. The one that sold for millions was a 1913 V that only 5 are known to exist. Yours in that's condition worth maybe $5. Still a good find. Congrats.

Thanks for the info and the congrats. Not worried about the value so much (unless it was the 3 million kinda coin) more interested in the fact that this coin has been around for so freakin long! Love to think about where its been(probably in the dirt from the looks of it) and what it has seen. I looked on coin trackers and it said 13.75ish-260.00ish - but I agree that 5 bucks is probably more accurate :) - is there a better website to check value than coin tracker? They say most any Jefferson is worth 35-80 cents and I know that's not right.

No cleaner. I put it in my kids rock tumbler so it should be shiny in about 30 minutes.

Im no expert, buy im pretty sure that will destroy any numismatic value. Antiqurs arent suppose to be shiny, the patina is part of the value.

Blog or a forum?. Also pretty sure retyping it in another way to get around the spell blocker isn't the smoothest move, since it was probably blocked for a reason by the powers that be =0

No previous account, and truly not trying to manipulate just never been censored before. I figured it would censor cuss words, I just didn't think that word was as taboo as it apparently is.
