Kingston, New York 1600's Farm Field Hunt

My buddy Joe drove in from Long Island, then I drove the next 90-miles upstate to meet our host Frank (FMERG). We hunted a farm dating back to the 1600s, that has given up Spanish silver, British coppers, and a very rare New York Militia belt plate so my hopes were very high.

We detected from 9:30am - 3:30pm in three newly plowed and disked fields. Joe found a flat button (a first for him), Frank pulled some Indian heads, musket balls, and a large copper, and I got a 1899 V nickel and my first intact sleigh bell. I got to meet Frank's hunting partner Rich, who pulled a Shield nickel, a British copper, and http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/t...ay-four-farm-field-fishermen.html#post4947210
Rich is the man that found the militia buckle.

Frank presented me with a rare gift (see last photo), that really moved me. No Spanish silver for today, but great buddies and clear blue skies made it a great day!

Three White's, one Fisher and a Minelab.....I'm beginning to wonder if I am a metal detectorist .....or a collector of metal detectors?

Great going. Love the pull tab. About the only thing that should be put in a slab is a pull tab, not ever a coin. Then again, there are a lot of people who think they're coin collectors when in reality they're plastic collectors. Just say no to slabs.

FMERG has sold a bunch of those tabs at our local LCS and on Ebay. going rate is $8 for the prized digging artifact. just realized_____________he never gave me one, even after I arranged a buyer for his Quattro :---( *)#@|+%$^----what a shallow guy he is. ( an inside joke)
