Definately a throwing knife. The holes are meant to balance it out (probably knew that, just wanted to throw that out there...in case).

Kinda out of place. Think maybe it could have been ditched after a crime??

you'd be surprised. there have been a lot of knives found at playgrounds. i have found 2 myself. i swear, parents wouldn't let their kids play at most playgrounds if they knew some of the things we find at them quite regularly. drug paraphernalia is another common item (syringes, pipes, coke baggies, blades, etc) its kinda sad really.

I guess I must be lucky cause i have never found anything really bad at a playground. I kinda hope i never do cause all it will do is depress me.

Looking at the dive knives, saw this one, then realized I didn't take the "hilt" into account (nor the line between the hilt and the blade), the one found looks a lot more like a dive knife now that I look at it. I guess they don't want a line on an aerodyanmic knife...should have looked at the pic more carefully, oh, and I forget that people on this sight don't like the word "definately"...lol

Some playgrounds have sand, and wood chips not just grassy areas anymore. In fact more are just wood chips and sand. Have found a knife or two in these areas good to remove them. Good job.

A kid with a knife, sounds like a kid being a kid, not unusual at all! Now finding spent ammo at a playground is unusual...

I acquired as many knives (the throwing ones were the best!!!) as I could as a youngin, what is so strange about finding one by a place where kids frequent? :-\
