Kinda crappy out today and low tide wasn't gonna be all that low and the wind was churning things up a bit, even in the bay. Decided to walk the dogs and do some hunting at a nearby friend's house on the lake and see what I could find in the water. I was only there for an hour and there were tgts a-plenty in the small area I hunted in. Seriously, I walked in the water (knee to thigh deep) about 100 feet in one direction and back and this is what I came up with:

Bunch of old shotgun shell brass, 2 .45 cal bullets, and old dog license (says "Male Dog" but the rest is mangled), some trash and two interesting items. The lead ball looks like a musket ball but is much smaller, weighs 13g and is about 13mm in diameter. Anyone have any ideas on that one? Could it be from buck and ball or grapeshot? Smaller "small game" round? I have found 2 musket balls previously on this property (on the land) that were larger than this. The wood piece has some metal in it that sounded off well, just need to did it out.

The other item is the oval shaped brass piece. It had a small piece of rotted wood in the center hole (can still see some) that disintegrated when I handled it. This item was the deepest target, almost all the others came out in one scoop. Bottom in the area I was digging is sand mixed with leaves. Any ideas on this one? It looks like something I think I know but can't but my finger on it. Could it have been some sort of a "slide" on a ruler or measuring device? Looking for help on this one as well.

Thanks for looking! We will see what tomorrow brings!

Hmm, metric conversions... looks like the ball is just under a half inch, common pistol shot size.
can see a flat spot, it likely swelled a bit on impact, so I'd say it's a .45 cal,
I still use em in my 1858 New Army replica.
brass reminds me of a knife bolster, it does look familiar.... thanks for showing

You didn't ask specifically, but the item in your second pic looks like a brass pin from an old door hinge. Haven't seen a brass one younger than a hundred years or so. If you already knew that, then disregard. The last item might well be a knife bolster, but it also might be a lock estucheon plate. Can't tell from the pictures how thick it is.

Thanks for the ideas on the brass thing guys! Figured the pin was from some sort of hinge but good to have others say the same!
