I should of put in my post, what everyone's thoughts are on that. That’s neat! I heard that sometimes they used to do that at certain stores to turn them into tokens. Not sure on this one!
That's what I was thinking, thank youI am thinking: Love Token
Or maybe someone trying out their new stamp set.
I'm with cudamark; not a love token, just trial punching.
Don......
Nice!!! Congrats!!!
Thank youCoins have been counterstamped for many decades. The reasons are nearly endless, but I have seen a number over the years that were stamped with the purpose of turning the coin into a token of sorts that was to be used at a specific store.
Here is a short explanation.

The reasons are numerous, I'm afraid that it's another one of those metal detecting mysteries that keep me interested in searching.I'm thinking someone may have done that to see if they ever received that coin back in circulation. Neat find.
Me too Mr. DirtI like it!!!!!
Thank youCool penny! Thanks for sharing with us!
I only found two coins, a wheat and Jefferson. The Wheatie has initials beat into the coin. First time I've ever saw a wheatie like this.
