Today I revisited a small field that has yielded over twelve large coppers, the oldest 1724, I decided to push the tree line as the overgrowth has not grown yet and the harsh winter has alot of it down. The first hit i got was so strong I really thought it was a can so when i pulled the first half of this cup I was very surprised . I worked the area for another hour and then got a scratchy hit and after digging I found this copper ring at about eight inches down. It has what looks like a dancing Lyon on it ? About five minutes later I found a small piece of ruler , that has beautiful markings on it. About ten yards from where I found the first half of the cup once again I got my ears blown out by the signal on the second piece of cup i found, and yes ! the two pieces fit together. Clearly there is alot more pieces missing. The appears to be cast and then spun, I can not find any markings on it and am not sure if it is copper or bronze, there was no green on the pieces and it is a beautiful dark brown. The last hit i got just before dark was this funny little copper clip ? If anyone wishes to weigh in on these objects ? Please do !! Thanks

I forget what its called when the Lion is standing like that (might just be called standing) but similar to 'lion passant'. The Ring Seal is early 1800s :icon_thumright:

Thanks guys the ring won't even fit on my pinky finger but is very cool. I only wish the cup was intact or had some markings on it. Below is the coin I found within 20 yards of the ring. I hae found many other coins in this field but this is the oldest.

Rampant?

thank-you
