Last Tuesday I went to one of my dump banks (TD) to get rid of half dollars. Because the bag only holds $100 I have to go to multiple branches to get rid of $500 worth of halfs. I will only do $100 per bank. They seem to appreciate that I limit my dump to that amount at any one branch. When the bag was full & they opened the machine, I asked for the rejects as usual. The machines have trouble counting the large coins (halfs) at times & I always need to check the reject tube for my coins. The reject tube was full & kept on pouring out more coins. I put the coins into my bag, by the time the tube was empty my bag was very heavy. It turned out to be 99.9% silver coins. I stopped at a deli on my way home & they weighted the bag for me. It weighted 4.33 lbs! The results were as follows:

42 Half Dollars:
5 LW 1/37 1/41D 1/43 1/44 & 1/47
2 Bens 1/52 & 1/60D
35 40s 2/65 15/66 8/67 9/68 & 1/69

118 Quarters:
5 Standing Liberty No Dates
1/34 3/35 1/38 1/39 2/40 1/40S 5/41 4/42 2/43 5/44 1/44D 5/45 1/45S 4/46 1/47 1/47D 2/48 1/48S 1/49
1/51 1/52 1/52D 3/53D 2/54 1/54D 5/56 3/56D 1/57D 3/58D 1/59 2/60 1/60D 4/61 4/62 3/62D 7/63 4/63D
16/64 4/64D

206 Dimes:
23 Mercs
1/38 1/39 1/39D 1/40 1/40D 4/41 9/42 2/43 2/44 1/44D

183 Roosevelts
15/46 1/47 2/48 3/50 2/51 6/52 3/53 5/54 1/54D 2/56 7/57 1/58 5/59 2/60 1/60D 6/61 4/61D
10/62 6/62D 15/63 10/63D 68/64 & 8/64D

There was some clad coins along with some foreign coins along with the other coins listed above. I ask for the rejects because they are usually foreign coins which I save in case I ever get to those countries. My wife & I went to Canada this past August & I had over $350 Canadian coins which I used during our trip.

I would like to post a picture for everyone to see but I have 2 problems. My digital camera is broken & I don't know how to load a picture if I had one to load.

I'm not sure where CW3 considers 'Downstate NY' - but he may be in the same area as me, and if he is I've had the same experience a few times where I've gotten TONS of coins from the reject tube. Them being all silver makes a harder to swallow, but it CAN happen. A few weeks ago I went to a TD and there had to have been $200+ in $1 coins in the tube. Unfortunately for me the lady that was helping me wouldn't let me have them since she could clearly see I was only putting halves in. I cannot doubt something like this as I know their machines reject silver and I've personally gotten piles of coins out of different machines on a number of occasions.

I know this story sounds like alot of BS!!. But he really found that much in one shot. Two people that I know, one who owns a detector shop, and one who thinks CW3 is a pain in the ass, both said they saw the coins. I will probably get to see them soon also. This guy gets allot of real good scores all the time at the banks because he has a hook with some of the tellers. Any way, HH to all.

I will say from experience that this story is very possible. In fact i have a wound on my wrist that wont heal because of my constant reject tray searching. Reject tubes arent the only way you may score at a TD machine. Keep dumping and eventually you may score.O ccasionaly i figure the machine stops "spinning" at the end of a previous customer's dump. They get their ticket and leave not knowing they had coins not being counted left in the machine. A sign of this is when you go to dump and the machine doesnt spin after pressing go but not because the bag is full.

Great haul! Congrats! I never posted pics until this year as I am old school. But, one of our regulars walked me thru it (CardsNCoins).

Yes, Enamel7--you are correct. Manners are required--at least for this southern gal.

That's a great score. I know of others that have gotten big silver finds from TD Bank reject trays. So, it can really happen.
Congrats,
