Large Sterling Portrait Frame. 30 Old Coins. Plus A Nice Group Of Artifacts.

Hey everyone,

Been out hunting and searching whenever I can here. Been testing alot of new sites. And venturing deeper into known places.

Have made a few nice finds over the past month. Although while out yesterday my unit is shutting off on me for no reason. Checked everything like batteries and such but no luck. I got a loose connection somewhere.

So off this week for a service. Was hitting a nice spot to yesterday while the unit was acting up. I pulled 12 wheats a 1917 merc and that huge silver portrait. I'm sure I missed some items.

I also got 9 IH's at a old foundation site. I also picked up another no date standing lib. And a array of relics.

Yes, me to. My unit has been really reliable. This is the first time it is going to need serviced in 6 yrs and about 5,000 hrs of hunting. Atleast I got a ace 250 for a backup.

That will do just fine for a week or 2. Location is a very big part of the search. If it's not there doesn't matter what unit you have. The ace does just fine. It's no Dfx but a great little unit.

Pretty sweet on the finds. Nine IH's from one site sounds awesome. Most Nate and I got from a site was about 5 or 6.

Nate's DFX did the same thing as yours - just shut down. We sent it in and all they did was check it and recalibrate it. No problems since....

I was really surprized at the old foundation site Mirage. There was no coins other than indians. I think the site was hunted before. I was finding nice relics on the edge of the site. But in the prime area's it was virtually hitless.

I should have hit this spot about a yr ago when they dozed a old frame house from the site. I waited to long and I think someone hit it before I got to it. I was finding nice old buckles from the 1800's there.

I agree the unit needs tuned and tested and it should be o.k again. Been getting bumped around alot 4 wheeling in my friends jeeps trying to locate new areas to hunt.

I did find a really nice old pre 1900 bottle at the place. It was just sticking up out of the ground. I thought it was a new bottle and almost didn't pull it out.

The wheats were run through a heavy duty tumbler. Then just olive oil aplied to them. I have another product I put onto the coins before they are oiled. I didn't do it to them this time. I could have got them looking even better.

The indians were hand cleaned with peroxide. Then a q-tip and a coat of mothers mag aluminum polish was applied to them. Then let them soak in olive oil for about 2 weeks.
