Hey all,

A friend of mine found this while metal detecting upstate NY, in an old town dating back to the 1700's. It was buried flat in a depression with a rock laid over it, as if a child had put it there or hid it.

Anyway, it's huge (see half dollar for scale) and thicker than anything I've ever seen. It also has what appears to be a raised edge that rims the entire coin.

Sorry, these are the best pics I could get. It's worn smooth, but whenever I look at it things "jump out" at me from time to time, so I figured someone here might have better luck than me.

Thanks in advance!

I think Joe has it. You can somewhat see the profile of the face in the third photo.
