Been a while since I have been in here.....thought I was not going to make it on resetting password...:) Now days if I get just a few hours for myself on artifact hunting a month I am very lucky (certainly not how it was when I started hunting in '78). On such a day I decided to dig a small test hole in our yard. It is/was a fluke find as being only 1 1/2' deep in ground. Dr. Al Goodyear put it in his S.E. Clovis data base as #361. Not the biggest, not the prettiest but was so great to go get dad and let him see it laying there before picked up..:) FILE12940.JPG

That is one awesome point-and a very rare find. It must have been fate that caused you to dig that hole. If I had found that in my yard my grass would look like a scene from Caddy Shack! lol Congratulations. Did you meet Al in person? He's a great guy and is definitely the expert when it comes to Clovis and pre-Clovis artifacts.

To my eye, that's a Beaver Lake point. Late paleo/very early archaic. Gary

On second look, I'd say this is more of a Simpson than Beaver Lake. My bad. I'll still go with late paleo though. Gary

What point type did Al Goodyear say that it was?
