Just getting around to posting my New Year Eve hunt along with yesterday's hunt (Jan 3rd)...Got off work a couple of hours early on New Years Eve so decided to get out in the blistering cold, it was about -25 celsius with the wind chill but knew the ground would be rock hard soon...This was the site I pulled the silver spoon and nice Dandy button from the hunt before, the ground was very hard but not as hard as my head...as I was there to dig! First signal that came up was this Tombac button with full shank, then I was chasing this other target which ended up being tin and noticed a Milk Bottle marked A. Raymond (any information on this one?) date registered is 1927, don't know how I didn't break it as it was down about 13 inches....a couple of musket balls and this crusty copper came out but it was this rosette that had me going until I got home and washed it...
(Jan 3rd hunt) I then decided to get out with another local detectorist at the last minute in the continued cold of -27 celsius into the woods, also hard digging but the fields were out of the question until the Spring... managed this 1820 American LC, looks like 1826 but just the way it's marked...also managed this key hole plate, at least that's what I think it is... but today the snow started and the ground frozen so I think it's time to shut it down for a few months as you can see by the pool picture...Thanks for looking...----some reasons my pics don't show up in order...hmmmm

Nice job buddy. These cold weather finds feel a lil sweeter. I froze my ass off Saturday but it was well worth it

Hello,

Very nice finds!

I was able to go out yesterday for a few hours, some clad and a charm. The cold air is here and hunting in the woods is my only choice!

Regards,

Yup, we're done till spring. Glad you got out a couple more time, I couldn't be out there with the flu. That's a pretty cool bottle, I'm sure that spot has some more stuff. Lets just hope the spring comes earlier this year, there was still a 12 foot snowbank next to my driveway on April 21st last year.

imagesFVGNDGN1.jpg That keyhole escutcheon looks like it may be a hand plane blade. Does it have a sharp edge on the wide end?
