Monday was our last hunt of the year, we were hoping for more time but family came first.
For this time of the year we have quite a few more choices than normal, so we spent most the day striking out on new but unproductive land. We tried 5 different fields with very little to show - 2 scrappies & a Horse Pendant.
So out of desperation we returned to the Roman Lion Field for the last hour of the day. The recent rain had flatted down some of the more choppy areas & we managed 9 Roman Coins. This surprised us both, so at least in the new year we will have a little hope left, going over already searched land.
(4.5 hours)

11 Roman Coins
18th C Pewter Linked-Button
Crotal Bell
Tiny bit of Roman Bracelet
Bent Medieval Horse Harness Pendent

Awesome Cru, going out with a bang, sorry you had to go thorough a few sites to get the goods. Maybe someday I'll get lucky and take a military hop and get over to England.

The large bronze one has some great detail and patina.

Nice year end hunt. Those Roman coins really intrigue me, even to be able to dig up a crusty one would really excite me. You sure found some really nice ones! Good luck in 2016

Good to see that you went out with some really nice bronzes, with the crisp detail they look great. Nice going on the hanging pendent as well, too bad it was kissed by a disk, was there any detail on it at all?
Have a great New Year Cru & to your Dad, hope the fields will loose all their fluff and compact down nice for some fine winter outings.

Not the hunt you were hoping for, but at least you can say that you had an absolute killer 2015 and I'm sure you'll find a way to get into several mega-productive sites next year. Happy New Year!

For a man who thinks of detecting every 6 seconds, exactly when does family come first ?

Never mind, just yanking your chain.

Nice looking coppers.

Best of luck in '16

Sadly the pendant only has a faint sign of an inner square, no other detail.:sadsmiley:

As always, you and your Dad made some interesting recoveries! :occasion14:
It amazes me how some of your Roman bronze coins come out totally toasted and yet others look as clean as the day they were made.

I also notice that you guys don't dig as many horseshoes as I do. :laughing7:

Hope you and your Dad are both doing well,
Dave
