Thanks Drmad mine is not nearly so pretty at the moment! It's also made by a different maker in the style of Buccellati's birds, but still a great score that should bring $300-500. 2.5" beak-tip to tail-tip, 28 grams, made by Italo Gori. For right now he's extremely tarnished, somewhat "frizzed" and has silver polish caked into the feathering in some places. I'm going to take him to a local high-end jeweller where I've had other items serviced and see if they can clean/fluff him for me.

It would be hard to part with it. I am drawn to stuff that just screams great and skilled workmanship! But for $300-$500...yep, that bird would fly the coup!

I feel so guilty about my latest score. I got a 14k gold necklace for $70 plus a drop more for shipping. The lady was selling cuz she needs the money. I got it for below spot. It weighs 4.13 grams. I just feel bad, cuz she didn't know it was worth more.

Ummm,,mugsisme...buying for less than full value is the the basic concept we all work from. We do it everyday, all day. Not sure why you feel bad. Hopefully not because of the sad story. Here those a lot too.

You didn't get it for that much less than spot. 4.3 gms. 14K is only $86.80, maybe less next month, lol.

I once saved a Buccellati piece from a gold scrap store. It is a sterling candy dish in the shape of a leaf. It was being used as an ashtray! I think I paid around $30 or $40. Should be worth about $225.

Was it stamped with Italian-style hallmarks or hand-signed? I have definitely added them to my watch-for list.

Just received a Pershing Missile Badge bought off ebay. This is not an official badge just a token of days gone by. Represents the Cold War Era when the USA had intermediate range Nuclear Missiles. I was assigned to a Nuke Unit back in the 70s. Latest ebay score 10 bucks, resell value 25 billion dollars. In other words priceless.

I bought the last one he had after reading your post a couple weeks ago.

Bought this sterling watch chain w/ holed colonial silver coin fobs for $22.50 BIN, free shipping FROM JAPAN. I hesitated at first because it seemed like a too good to be true thing, but it's an established seller with other, otherwise normally-priced gold & silver items for sale and great feedback. 120 grams of silver total, two 8 reales and a Filipino 50 centimos, and it was delivered four days and two hours from when I completed the order which is kind of insane.

That's a beauty! And what's up with the jetmail, lol. I haven't had any what I would call great ebay scores lately myself, a few decent postcards to add to my collection is about it.

Me thinks so as well

Hi Guys, I like watches. I usually do not buy them on ebay but I could not not take a risk. I bought a 1961 Rolex GMT Pepsi cola with box and papers og receipt hang tags for 4011.00. I saw that it had sold for 11,000 then was returned and relisted. The seller put right in the add that the previous buyer returned it because the serial number had been recut. I pm ed the seller for a close up of the numbers and they looked fine to me so I took a risk and bought it (the watch with cut numbers is worth the amount I paid in parts so not much risk) I got the watch and took it to 3 different Rolex experts in LA and all said legit and all put offers in on it the highest being 17K (no sale)
THat is my ebay win!

Cheers guys Im a digger but love to find good deals as well

You were offered 17 k and did not sell ?
heh.

Thought I would return this thread from the grave. I've been trying to list a lot but I also catch myself buying a lot lately also. Here are a couple of my recent scores.

11.8gr 14k for $254 shipped.

3.7 gr 10k $50 shipped. - wife wears it now!

1.2 18k sapphire pendant. $35 shipped.

ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1469331868.651453.jpg

Maybe not the best except for that top bracelet. But, I'll take it! I just bought something else that I think is a homerun that I can have my jeweler easily fix. I'll add that when I get it in the mail. It's a new seller so I'm 50-50 as to if it actually comes in the mail or not... HPpy hunting!
