Ive never had any lead ring in at that range, bullets for me come in 16-18 and copper jacketed bullets can hit at 20. You sure its lead?

How big are your "bits"? I get fishing weights all the time that read in the mid to upper 20's if they're big enough.

Yeah, I hear you guys. I’m getting a silver signal in about a 5’x5’ area. I think I may have found where a General buried his silver to keep it from the Union lads. It’s an open permission for me, I’ll be doing a pick axe recon this week, lol

Your detector cannot tell you what kind of metal is in the ground. It only measures conductivity of the earth and finds anomalies caused by metal or conductive materials in the ground. Metal detector IDs only guess at target content based on coin sized objects. Aluminum cans will give you "silver" readings as will any metal that is large enough to be a great conductor. Big aluminum, iron, copper will all give "silver" readings even though they are not silver. Good luck with the "general's silver", but don't bet on those signals really being silver.

Deep musket balls ring up from high teens to high 20s (usually bounce around) in these parts. But they have the same level of jumpiness from all angles.
