I took this when I left work yesterday, 1/7/09. It's Shasta Dam with snow-covered Mt. Shasta in the background. We get very little snow here but, if we want it, we can drive to it.
Not any really good ones taken recently granny. I did take one of some deer on the lawn yesterday and I have an older pic taken below the dam. The one taken below the dam shows a Osprey nest on the top of the pole on the left side of the pic.
This website has a virtual tour of this area. Enjoy the tour granny and bring Hunter. http://www.virtuar.com/california/shasta/dam/
Love them I cked out some of the virtul tour I'll do more later, I've never seen an osprey nest let alone a nest like that or that big on a pole! Keep sharing.
This is a young Osprey that was hatched here in 2007. We have many Osprey, Bald Eagles and Golden Eagles around here.
Fossis, you must be talking about Big Bear and the San Gabriels. I've been there many times.
great pics! That is the perfect kind of snow....stays on the mtns where it belongs, if you wanna see it up close you can, if not, you can stay someplace warmer! lol
They have a few Bald eagles out at the dam here when they do the tour I am always at work and never have been able to go yet, but, I am going to, and see iof I can borrow daughters camera! That is a pretty osprey! Keep the pics commin!
