What is the optimum, designed, or desired angle for the Le Trap sluice.

Building a stand for a level floor. It can be anything i want it to be. What's my target?

The ultimate angle the sluice is set at will probably vary with water flow, feed types etc. I'm a proponent of the KISS method so Iwould just build it to the desirable height and adjust the angle by shimming the high end to a desired angle. You can build in adjustment by inserting bolts on either side and adjusting height/angle and level with a wrench.

PS A usual rule of thumb (starting point) for sluice set up is about 1" drop per foot of run but it is often plus or minus.

As flat as possibly while still exchanging material at your desired feed rate.

So 1 in 12 pitch is 4.8 degrees....

At 5 degrees it seems to work pretty nice, but i'd like to experiment more.

I think i'll shoot to make the stand adjustable from 0 to 10 degrees then.

Thanks for the input.
