I traded my unit crest to German solder to get this pin back in 1978 while taking part in tank gunnery in Grafnewhear Germany. The German tank crews wore this pin on their hats. Similar to the type worn during WWII.
Glad I kept it, lots of memories and great times in Germany 1975 - 1978.
