Well E F Beale's 1850 Beale Papers, Lewis & Clark and real stories from the Risqué family-Kennerly and Hutter branch.
The missing link is the connection from Morriss to (unknown author/s) to Ward as agent, copyright owner and publisher.

YEP! Working on it... MORE stories (FACTS) Pike Expedition, Long Expedition, Sibley Expedition... ANYTHING up to @ 1882-1883. THAT is why Beale PAPERS is a FACTION, fiction, based on FACTS, as a "COVER-STORY"... www.peterv.com/confed_treasure.htm

Robert MORRISS...? Fictional character, based on FACTUAL guy (HISTORY... Robert MORRIS, Mayor of Lynchburg, Va. - 1813); "Mayor" Robert MORRIS & his wife, Sarah... DID "board" ppl in their HUGE house (1819-1822), calling it FIRST... Washington Inn, later...Washington House; THEN! Washington Hotel was built in 1823; "Mayor" Robert MORRIS "ran" it as Hotel-Keeper... keeping the "CONTRACT" of 10 years... FACTS! "TJB" "boarded" with R M (1819 & 1821)". RM died in 1863, no longer necessary "for the story" (like on TV). Maj. Ferdinand C. Hutter (CSA) was "head" AUTHOR, compiling a "PATCHWORK" of adventures/stories/PAPERS, for the Beale PAPERS; James Beverly Ward, (his COUSIN), was AGENT for Copy-Right (1884). FC Hutter died in 1885 of a heart attack (for real), and Beale PAPERS was released...

Keeping WHAT contract of 10 years?

In Beale PAPERS, Robert MORRISS had a CONTRACT for 10 years... the HISTORICAL "Mayor" Robert MORRIS did the SAME, with the Washington Hotel; he carried over whatever was in the ORIGINAL "Contract" from the Washington Inn/House to "board" ppl.

The contract in the Beale papers was about keeping the iron box locked/sealed for 10 years...had nothing to do with keeping a hotel.

OK, from copy of ORIGINAL Beale PAPERS (p.5), provided by Peter Viemeister in THE BEALE TREASURE: New History of a Mystery; "he (Robert Morriss) LEASED for a term of years, the Washington Hotel..."; FACTS: Washington Hotel in Lynchburg, Va. was not built until 1823, REAL LIFE ex-Mayor Robert MORRIS & his wife DID have a 10 year contract... FIRST, to "board" ppl in their HUGE home, calling it Washington Inn/House; THEN, he had Washington Hotel, as Hotel-Keeper... in 1823.

Okay, thanks for that. It's been a while since I've read the Beale story. Well, I would call that confirmation on Robert Morriss.

Beale PAPERS has LOTS of errors, compared to FACTS in Lynchburg, VIRGINIA history... THAT is why, it is FACTION; Fiction based on FACTS, as a "cover-story".

Rebel, names were many times spelled differently, as we see in this case. This exists in my own family.

Robert Morris/s of the Beale story was a half nephew of the Robert Morris from Philadelphia (financier).

I'm speaking of the Robert Morris who signed the DOI. He was an uncle to the Robert Morris of Lynchburg (Beale story).
