By far the MXT is a better detector and worth the $100.00 more. HH

Go ahead and buy "the mxt edge" book if you want to get the max performance out of the mxt you will want to read it. Don't be fooled by the simplicity of the design of the mxt, once you see all it can do you will be surprised.

Got "The MXT Edge" today.....Looks like a great book! Thank you..

Haven't had a chance to try the detector....rained all day.
It came with an additional 5"(?) 'Detech Excellerator wide Band Double D" coil , the plastic bolt that holds the coil is to big to fit this smaller coil.
Should I just drill it out to fit the bolt?

Yeah no problem in drilling a bigger hole on the coil, just do it carefully. The book is great even if sometimes it repeats itself but I have determined that the constant repeating will make you learn it better and not forget so easily.

MXT F2
I own both but only use the F2 as a loaner or if I am just stopping by somewhere for a quick scan. The MXT is far Superior but thats why it costs more and for just 100.00 more it is absolutely a better deal.
That being said the F2 is by no means a bad detector.
