I know a lot of you would love to get into a CW battle site, but it's not possible for you. I thought I would share one of the coolest, most thought provoking experiences we CW battlefield hunters get to experience. When we find what's left of a "situation". A Hut site . . . a trash pit . . . in this case, a campfire down in the bottom of a trench.

Digging for a bullet, I was amazed to see the remains of a campfire come out of the hole. Charcoal after all these years. You could look at the soil line and follow the fire. It was an incredible experience to contemplate that fire 150 years ago . . . and who sat around it, and if they ever lived to see their home again.

You did dig out all of the soft soil, right? There's usually a lot of relics down in there.... :)

I've run into those a few times, and you're right, it's VERY cool! You know they were right there, cooking a meal or keeping warm.

That is very awesome! Especially to dig down to it. I have found a couple of Indian campfires when lakes get low, or I assume they are by the (true) arrowheads I've found around them.
