Just pulled this from a day soak and was able to get some details. After a web search I believe it "once was" a Lincoln Campaign Button.

Nice find. I actually found a John Bell-Edward Everett button earlier this year in my own yard. They ran against Lincoln.

Great ID Bart. That would have been passed over both in the dirt, and out of the dirt by many who wouldn't have recognized what it was. Excellent recovery!
