little help on find

I know these aren't the best photos, I'll have to get the good camera out and take some macro pics. these were taken with the iphone. Anyway, pretty sure this isn't a button and the pattern looks familiar, but I can't put my finger on it. Help.

Try taking the photo outside, natural light is always best.

I know the pics stink. I will take new ones later. this was at my desk at work with an iphone. I just didn't have the right camera with me. I was just hoping someone could give me a few ideas. Really don't think it's a button. usually if there was a shank, you will see 'left over' material where the shank was. there is a dot there, but it looks like a stamped dot, like on a coin.
