Yeap, we know thats a great find. These types of Roman Animal fibula are European & only turn up rarely here, if imported. Our types are more 'plate like', unlike your more solidly cast one. Its a lovely example & highly collectable as well - CONGRATS

I would say its in the large cat family, rather than wolf.

Great find!! It actually looks like a wiener dog (dachshund). Short legs and long body...the head looks like a dachshund also.
Wonder if those dogs existed back then?

Discover interesting facts about
Dachshund history

Dachshund history shows some interesting facts about the Dachshund breed origin. It seems that dogs of similar statute to the dachshund may have been around for a very long time...

...depicted in, rock and tomb drawings, some thousands of years old, found in countries such as Egypt, South America and China, but the dachshund we know now, seems to have originated in Germany over 400 years ago.

Might be wrong, but I don't think so.

Funny my first thought was Panther (had a few Roman Panther related objects) & then I changed my mind...lol Should have stuck with my first thought, good research by the way.
